RECORDER

The recorder hasn’t always enjoyed a favourable reputation! But when taught correctly, it serves as an excellent pre-curser to learning the saxophone or clarinet as it is suitable from age 5.

If your child has their sights set on the saxophone or clarinet but are either too little to hold up a bigger instrument or aren’t yet sporting most of their new front teeth, the recorder can be used as an introduction to co-ordinate breathing, instrument posture, note reading and aligning fingers on the instrument. There are even notes on the recorder that have the same finger patterns as the clarinet and saxophone.

We must add that the recorder is a wonderful instrument in its own right and there are some incredible recorder players in Australia!
